Is IGC a common choice for Virginia gymnasts?

Absolutely. Each summer, we welcome gymnasts from across the Commonwealth—from Northern Virginia and the Richmond metro area to Hampton Roads, Charlottesville, and the Shenandoah Valley. Many VA gymnasts reconnect with teammates from their home clubs or meet athletes they’ll see later throughout their competition season.

How long is the trip from Virginia to Stroudsburg?

For many families, it strikes the perfect balance: far enough from home to feel immersive and distraction-free, yet close enough for a comfortable drive. Most Virginia families find the trip surprisingly straightforward.

Approximate travel times:

  • NOVA (Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington): ~4–5 hours
  • Richmond: ~5.5 hours
  • Charlottesville: ~5 hours
  • Virginia Beach / Norfolk: ~6.5 hours
  • Roanoke: ~6 hours

Many families enjoy the drive north as a natural transition from the busy school-year routine to a dedicated summer training retreat.

When should Virginia gymnasts register to align with school schedules?

Most Virginia schools finish in late May or early June, making our early-summer sessions especially popular for VA families. We also offer August sessions that wrap up before school resumes, allowing gymnasts to enjoy camp without missing class or team commitments.

Can my gymnast attend with their Virginia gymnastics club teammates?

Absolutely. Many campers arrive with one or two teammates from their Virginia clubs, and it’s a wonderful way to ease into the overnight experience. If campers are close in age, they may request to bunk together, which often adds comfort and excitement to their week at IGC.

What should my gymnast pack for camp?

In addition to standard gymnastics gear (leotards, grips, tape), we recommend packing layers for the cooler Pocono Mountain evenings. Once enrolled, families receive a full packing list to ensure every Virginia camper is prepared for both high-energy training and traditional camp fun.

Do you offer programs for competitive gymnasts from Virginia clubs?

Absolutely. We regularly host athletes from USAG and XCEL programs across Virginia. Our world-class facilities and coaching from around the world is designed to complement the training gymnasts receive at home, helping them build new skills during the off-season and return refreshed and ready for a new meet season.

How does IGC compare to local Virginia gymnastics summer camps?

Virginia offers many excellent day camps and clinics. IGC simply provides a different type of experience: a premier overnight program with world-class facilities, international coaching, and a full camp environment that builds independence, confidence, and community. For many families, it’s the perfect complement to the strong training their gymnast receives at home.

What makes training in the Poconos different from training in Virginia?

Virginia has outstanding gymnastics programs, but IGC offers a true overnight experience. Our Pocono Mountains campus gives gymnasts a refreshing change of scenery, expansive training spaces, and a community of athletes from across the country and around the world. It’s a unique blend of focused training and summer-camp magic, something wonderfully different from the excellent local clinics available in Virginia.
