At IGC, we strongly believe that unplugging at summer camp has major benefits for our campers.

Nowadays, everything is easily accessible through our electronic devices. Whether it be on our smart phones, tablets, or watches, content is readily available at our fingertips. It is easy to become distracted and disengage ourselves from our surroundings. Rather than having real-life conversations, it can be tempting to focus on our smart devices.

At IGC, we know that it is extremely important to unplug from electronics, and plug into real-life relationships and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that camp offers. We encourage all of our campers to live and be in the moment! Our campers are able to interact with one another through conversation in and out of the gyms, in the cafeteria, in their cabins, and during recreational games and activities. Unplugging also lets everyone enjoy the outdoors and take in the beauty and nature of our camp overall.

When kids unplug at camp, it allows them to unwind. For a week or more of the summer, they don’t have to worry about the stresses of being connected, or worry about what everyone else is doing. Instead, they can focus on building and improving their social skills. They are able to meet new friends from all over the country and world, while trying new experiences!

Most importantly, they are able to fully let loose and have fun, which is what summer camp is all about.
